As an experienced X generation, I love working with people from all ages. I have Mentors that are younger and older than me. Each provide me with their unique life experiences that helps me dance at the edge of my comfort zone.
Neuroplasticity has proven that we are designed to keep learning and improving.
When I look at my 'A team' the age ranges from 20 to 75. My 'A Team' the top 5 beings I spend the most time with, truly shape who I am - these people make us better. My Z gens are amazing with technology, inclusion and diversity and freedom to be themselves. My Millenials provide me perspective on life and work priorities, to keep a healthy balance. My Xers are wise and have gone through many business and life roller coasters and provide depth in knowledge. The Boomers have the history, they have the context of the world and see the patterns of business and life and how to thrive in all.
Who is in your intergenerational 'A team'? What do they provide you? How do they uplift you and help you grow?
The extra interesting complexity I have is that I also work in family businesses, with my husband Sam Pitruzzello and daughter Siena Pitruzzello.
Working with people you love is mostly awesome. There are times where our emotional control and emotional expression is tested.
Being able to create a service and difference to the world with your family is a privilege. Sometimes it gives you amazing opportunities to travel together and learn together too. Respecting each other's differences, working with each other's strengths and accepting each other's weaknesses is all part of the fun success we create.
Who are you working closely with and what are their strengths, differences, weaknesses? How do you respectfully work with them to be your best and bring the best out of the team?
Please have the courage to choose your 'A team' and the courage to change your 'A team' when the fit is no longer viable. Please have an expansive intergenerational network to keep you dancing on the edges of your comfort zone.
