My amazing new Doctor A.Professor (Dr) Vicki Kotsirilos AM asked me an unusual question in our first consultation. She asked me if I felt safe in my life.
What an extraordinary question to ask, shouldn't this just be a given? Of course in Australia today we are aware and awake that personal safety at home, work and all public environments is a legal right.
I know this is not true for all countries and people are suffering around the world, which is shocking and heartbreaking. We are such an evolved species in so many ways, science, nature, space, spirituality, AI, arts, environmental sustainability, inclusivity, and we still choose to hurt other human beings - physically and/or psychologically.
WorkSafe Victoria recently sent me an update that new regulations will be implemented in businesses to support psychological safety and wellbeing. Just as we have laws in place to protect employees to be physically safe we are now adding that we as employers are responsible for employees psychological safety and wellbeing.
I agree with the premise that all employers need to create caring and commercial environments. We need to ensure the balance is right to encourage people to take on the risk of creating businesses and employing people. Alternatives to having employees such as outsourcing and /or AI continue to grow.
There is a lot I can not change in our world, so I will focus on what I can influence and support. Let us start with ourselves - how safe can we make our own lives? Let us value ourselves enough to be worthy of being safe.
Let us has have the conscious intention to be kind and caring to ourselves and others.
We need to say something and do something when we are mistreated, we need to use our voice and advocate for our rights. I know this is harder for some than for others.
Courage to be safe starts with ourselves.
Our fear of being unsafe creates an energy, a vibration that attracts more and more fear and unsafety. The opposite of this is also true. When I feel safe my energy and vibration attracts more positive opportunities, people and environments to be safe.
Let us do all that is in our power to satisfy our physiological and survival needs to feel safe. After we feel safe we can then grow in healthy relationships, self-worth, purpose, thriving, making a positive difference and service.
I need to be in a world where I feel safe and have the freedom to reach my potential and serve the world and leave it a better place.
